We’ve made safety performance completely transparent. All health, safety, environmental, and quality metrics are displayed live on Power BI dashboards in our offices, allowing every employee to see our current performance in real time.

These dashboards track:

  • Audit compliance and close-out rates
  • Incident statistics and near-miss trends
  • Training compliance and expiry dates
  • Environmental targets and waste recycling performance

This visibility ensures that health and safety remain a daily focus across all teams, reinforcing accountability and driving continuous improvement.

Safety management

Our safety systems are proactive, not reactive.
We maintain clear procedures and safe systems of work across every activity – from excavation and reinstatement to confined space entry and plant operation.

We comply fully with:

  • HSG47 – Avoiding Danger from Underground Services
  • GS6 – Avoiding Contact with Overhead Power Lines
  • Confined Spaces Regulations 1997

We carry out structured internal and external audits to verify compliance, quality, and consistency across all projects.

Documentation audits

  • Review of RAMS, permits, and method statements
  • Validation of daily briefings, permits to dig, and toolbox talks

Mains and service test audits

  • Inspection of gas and water pressure testing procedures
  • Verification of calibration, testing accuracy, and certification records

Plant and fleet audits

  • Monthly inspections of vehicles, excavators, and reinstatement plant
  • Checks for LOLER, PUWER, and driver/operator competency
  • Vehicle performance monitored through telematics and service logs

Site compliance audits

  • Field audits completed by HSEQ managers
  • Scored reviews covering safety, quality, environmental control, and housekeeping
  • Findings logged and tracked through SWIMS, with close-out data feeding directly into our Power BI dashboard

All operatives, supervisors, and managers undergo regular assessment and refresher training, including:

Training records and renewals are monitored through Power BI, ensuring full visibility of compliance across the business.

  • Using recycled aggregates and asphalt in reinstatement works
  • Introducing Euro 6 and hybrid fleet vehicles and trialling HVO fuels

  • Monitoring carbon output and environmental KPIs via Power BI
  • Promoting efficient work planning to reduce unnecessary mileage and idling
